Ainda a década de 80 ainda não tinha chegado, estava-se em 1979, já os Supertramp - formados em 1969 - liderados pelo lendário Roger Hodgson, lançavam o seu sexto álbum e arrasavam com as tabelas de vendas desse ano.
Breakfast in América é um dos álbuns com mais sucesso da banda britânica.

O álbum está repleto de temas memoráveis como o tema que dá o título ao álbum, Breakfast in America, Goodbye Stranger, Take the Long Way Home e o Oh Darling.
Mas foi o The Logical Song que para mim mais marca este álbum. Para mim e para Sir Paul McCartney que o escolheu como a melhor música desse ano.
É um tema que reflecte sobre a eterna questão: qual o sentido da vida, que mistérios e dúvidas (existenciais) este mesmo sentido encerra em si?

Para muitos, eu incluído, o supremo álbum dos Supertramp é Famous Last Words mas temos que esperar mais três anos depois de Breakfast in America, para que ele surja: 1982.
