The Village People, uma banda que defendia a causa gay, cantavam este tema em 1979, no seu quarto álbum e com o mesmo título, e os PSB tocaram-na em 1993.
Foi o duo pop inglês popularizou o tema e canibalizou-no. Para muitos, na altura para mim também, o tema era pertença dos PSB mas de facto não é.
Go West soa a propaganda política. Aquele tipo de música que associamos à antiga URSS ou ao nazismo. Na verdade, é um hino gay.
Ele convida a comunidade homossexual a dirigirem-se à California, São Francisco, onde para além do tempo soalheiro e ameno durante todo o ano, se considerava ser o paraíso gay, onde a politica e a consciência para a existência e a necessidade de respeitar esta comunidade estavam a despontar.
